About This Experience
Once a year, Lake Como stages something that no itinerary can fully prepare you for. On the evening of 27 June, the ancient Sagra di San Giovanni returns to Isola Comacina - and the entire lake becomes the stage. The Sagra is the oldest event on Lake Como, rooted in one of its most dramatic chapters: the destruction of Isola Comacina in 1169 by the people of Como. As the island burned, the Bishop of Como placed a curse on those responsible. Every year since, the lake has commemorated that night with fire - a spectacular pyrotechnic display that simulates the burning of the island, set to a dedicated musical score, launching from the water at around 22:30. There is only one place to watch it: from the lake itself. On shore, the roads close, the crowds gather, and the viewpoints fill. On the water, you are inside the experience - the fireworks reflected across the surface in every direction, the sound rolling across the mountains, the island lit up against the night sky. We depart from Argegno at 9:00 PM, positioning on the water as the evening unfolds around the island. Prosecco is served on board as you settle in for one of the most spectacular nights on the lake. Availability for this date is extremely limited. Book early.
